Overview

The leadership of NATA and NAASE are committed to providing a conference environment free of harassment, discrimination, and hostile conduct of any kind. We recognize a shared responsibility to create and maintain that environment for the benefit of all and expect all event participants (e.g., speakers, attendees, sponsors, exhibitors, volunteers, staff) to help us create and promote an enjoyable experience for everyone by:

• Acting in an honest and ethical manner,
• Honoring differences in people, ideas, and opinions, and
• Accepting ownership for one’s own conduct.

Behavior

We have zero-tolerance for any form of discrimination or harassment, physical or verbal, by participants at our events.

Expected Behavior

• Treat all attendees with respect and consideration, valuing a diversity of views and opinions.
• Be mindful of your surroundings and of other event attendees. Alert on-premises security personnel and conference staff if you notice a dangerous situation or someone clearly in distress.
• Act responsibly when consuming alcoholic beverages or other intoxicants.
• Respect the rules and policies of the conference and the meeting venue, as well as all local, state, and federal laws.

Unacceptable Behavior

We do not tolerate harassment in any form. Bullying, intimidation, discrimination, or sexual harassment in the form of physical conduct, language, or use of social media or imagery, is not acceptable. Unacceptable behavior also includes making disparaging comments related to gender, gender identity or appearance, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, religion or religious observance, ethnicity, national origin, political views or affiliation.

Consequences for Violations of the Code of Conduct

1. Participant may be given a warning by an Officer of NATA or NAASE, or the Executive Director of either organization, for behavior that violates the code of conduct.
2. In addition, participant may be expelled from the event activities and facilities without a refund; participant will be responsible for any financial liability and/or expenses incurred.
3. NATA and NAASE reserve the right to notify the participant’s congregation or employer.
4. NATA and NAASE reserve the right to prohibit participation at future events.
5. NATA and NAASE will cooperate with local security and authorities if a participant’s behavior or actions violate any local, state, or federal laws.

Reporting Code of Conduct Violations

If you witness or become aware of any activities that violate the letter or spirit of this Code of Conduct, please alert the NATA or NAASE Executive Director, President, or Conference Co-Chairs as soon as possible. You may also submit a report using NATA's online form, which will immediately send a notification to the NATA Executive Director and Ethics Chairperson.
